MegaFon, Yota to compensate clients for recent connection failure
MOSCOW, May 22 (PRIME) -- Russian mobile operator MegaFon will compensate subscribers for recent troubles with connection caused by a breakdown in its network, and its unit, Scartel, working as Yota, will spend up to 20 million rubles in discounts for clients, the companies said on May 20.
“We’ll grant compensation to the subscribers hit by the breakdown. We’ll give more details at the beginning of the week (starting on Monday),” MegaFon’s General Director Sergei Soldatenkov said in the social network VKontakte.
The failure occurred on the network of MegaFon and Scartel on May 19, and voice connection was down in Moscow and several big cities in the Volga River area. The breakdown, provoked by problems with Hewlett Packard software, was fixed later the same day.
Soldatenkov said mobile connection now works regularly.
Scartel’s General Director Vladimir Dobrynin said that all consequences of the breakdown had been eliminated. “We decided to pay compensation of up to 20 million rubles to those clients who were deprived of an option to make calls and use the mobile Internet on that day,” he said.
As the compensation, Scartel will provide subscribers with a discount for the next settlement period, and clients should address the operator’s support desk to get it.
